The inventory team was formed to conduct an inventory of the Bazaar of the city, a place still very active in terms of trade and with very different characteristics from the one of Skopje.

For the first phase of the inventory Carcija the first 100 houses were inventoried just before 2010. This work is important because it is a tool to develop in other cities of the National Heritage Network.

Before starting the second phase in 2010, an exposition of works led took place for the residents in order to understand their heritage.

An awareness campaign that incorporates several expertise.

Bitola team, comprised of architects, historians and Conservatives prepared as an introduction to this inventory study, an analysis of old buildings, in order to understand the creation of the Carcija, its history, its morphology, occupation its evolution ... This analysis will contribute to the sensitization of residents and authorities to protect the heart of town.

In addition, it is planned to organize a pilot project to restore a shop of the Carcija in order to have a place of education for the people, exposure, advice ...


The carcija Bitola made subject of an article in the book "Bazaars Ottoman of Balkans" published in 2009 at the initiative of the ANVPAH & VSSP and Courrier des Balkans.
