This mission focuses on the heritage regulations and enforcement, allows ANVPAH & VSSP define future actions to implement in Tirana and Berat to enhance the Albanian heritage.

TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument) mission supported by the European Union in the framework of its enlargement policy, aims to adapt legislation of candidate countries into the European Union standards. Experts, gather with representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the Institute of Cultural Monuments and the City of Berat, were studed the planning documents and the specific legislation at Albanian heritage and also observe the state of conservation Site of Berat, World Heritage.

The mission has drawn several work opportunities with our Albanian partners. Future actions will address the following questions:

  • management of World Heritage Site and the limits of this zone and the buffer zone
  • a reflection on the urban and natural landscape and the means of its protection
  • heritage legislation to be develop
  • the planning including specific recommendations in terms of morphology of new construction materials.

These working time also allowed to contact the Mayor of Berat to study the possibilities to develop a subsequent decentralized cooperation with city adherent to the association.
