Veliko Tarnovo

Former princely city, Veliko Turnovo is located in north center of Bulgaria, on the road linking Bucharest to Sofia. It is currently essential to develop and enhance this unique historic center and the heritage of its 34 villages.

Veliko Turnovo and Bayonne exchange since 2004 on issues of development of urban heritage. At the request of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and Communication, decentralized cooperation was formalized in 2005.

Since this agreement, the implemented projects receive technical support from the ANVPAH & VSSP. This partnership translates into a regular supply of expertise and allows communities to benefit networking at the level of Balkan countries on the theme of heritage.
