Cities of Sarlat and Trogir lead reflection about heritage valorization.

The process of rapprochement between the two cities was made from 2005 on the initiative of mayors of both communities (Vedran Rozic Trogir and Jean-Jacques de Peretti in Sarlat). The presence of Croatian families living in Sarlat since long time has confirmed this dynamic.

On the occasion of the first European meetings and inter-network implemented in 2006 by ANVPAH & VSSP, tracks on common actions have been proposed by the two cities, then formalized in 2007 in order to identify possible lines of work over several years.

Decentralized cooperation between Sarlat and Trogir allows the establishment of a shared urban and cultural policy. The exchange between the two communities has several objectives:

  • develop transversality
  • Register sustainably heritage as a development tool in community projects in both cities
  • share experiences and expertise
  • associate the people in the valorization process
