Indo-French cooperation on heritage planning

The cooperation project is based on requests from cities or Indian territories listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, gathered in the Indian Heritage Cities Network (IHCN) network.

The cooperation program is supported by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, UNESCO, France-UNESCO Convention and ANVPAH & VSSP.

objectives:

  • networking skills and actors, promote international exchanges within the framework of decentralized cooperation
  • create regulatory and administrative tools for the protection and enhancement of heritage
  • enhance and preserve the cultural and national heritage
  • develop economic and social projects, based on the respectful use of culture and heritage
  • integrate cultural and heritage concerns in the global political cities in a planning process controlled

Based on the approach initiated in France within the framework of cities and art and history and Cities Country protected areas, this project may allow the emergence of a common platform for work on management issues, regulation and promotion of heritage from the exchange of experiences and pilot actions.

The project concerns: supporting of community, capacity building of elected representatives and technicians, and the establishment of regulatory and technical tools to develop urban governance, particularly with regard to the evolution of old centers, and the broader urban development in an integrated approach to the city.

This is to provide communities with the tools and resources to enable them to make decisions about the harmonious development, balanced and sustainable development of their cities and territories.
